The Lowe Institute of Political Economy at Claremont McKenna College, in partnership with Chapman University and Cadence Capital, produce five consumer sentiment indices for the following geographic regions: 1) California; 2) Los Angeles Metropolitan Area; 3) Los Angeles County, 4) Orange County; and 5) Inland Empire (Riverside and San Bernardino Counties). The last three indices (3,4,5) are constructed from the responses of 500 randomly selected individuals in each of the respective regions. The LA Metro index combines these three regions with a total sample size of 1500. The California Index has a sample size of 2000. In each case, the sample is demographically representative along four dimensions: age, ethnicity, gender, and income. Participants in the survey answer seven questions. The responses from the survey are then used to construct the indices. Click here to learn more about how the indices are constructed.
